The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced an end to electricity load management, saying consumers across its service area will now receive uninterrupted power supply as electricity demand returns to normal.
IESCO spokesperson Raja Asim said there is currently no electricity shortage in the region, with the required power being supplied through the national grid. He added that the company is continuously monitoring demand and supply to ensure a stable electricity network.
The spokesperson said IESCO is committed to providing reliable and uninterrupted electricity through efficient system operations, preventive maintenance, continuous network monitoring, and the prompt restoration of supply in the event of any unforeseen outages.
Explaining the recent power disruptions between June 29 and July 5, he said the country experienced an unprecedented heatwave that pushed electricity demand to exceptionally high levels, placing significant pressure on the distribution network.
According to IESCO, the increased load resulted in failures of distribution transformers, loose or burnt jumpers, and faults in underground power cables, requiring emergency shutdowns to carry out repair work.
The spokesperson added that in parts of Rawalpindi, where multiple 11kV feeders share common poles and underground cable routes, adjacent feeders also had to be temporarily shut down during repairs to ensure the safety of maintenance teams.
He clarified that these temporary shutdowns were technical and safety-related and should not be confused with load management.
