Office of K2 Airways Reportedly Sealed After Cargo Plane Crash

Authorities have reportedly sealed the Karachi office of K2 Airways at Jinnah International Airport as investigations continue into the disappearance and suspected crash of one of the airline’s cargo aircraft in the Arabian Sea.

The Boeing 737 freighter was en route from Sharjah to Karachi with five crew members on board when it reportedly developed a navigation system issue before losing radar and radio contact approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.

According to flight tracking data, flight TA1732 was cruising at around 35,000 feet before abruptly making a U-turn and entering a rapid descent. Within five minutes, the aircraft lost nearly 34,000 feet in altitude before disappearing from radar. Air traffic controllers said the crew did not issue a Mayday distress call, indicating the emergency unfolded too quickly.

Officials said the airline’s office has been sealed to preserve records that may assist investigators in determining the cause of the incident.

A large-scale search and rescue operation remains underway, with the Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, and merchant vessels combing the search area. Naval assets, including PNS Zulfiqar and PNS Hunain, as well as a PAF Saab surveillance aircraft and a Navy ATR aircraft, have been deployed.

K2 Airways identified the crew as Captain Muhammad Rizwan Idris, First Officer Faisal Mehmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Taufiq, Engineer Arif Siddiqui, and Muhammad Hamid.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief over the incident and directed the relevant authorities to utilize all available resources to locate the missing aircraft and its crew.
