Punjab to Introduce Strict New Law Against Illegal Weapons

The federal government has decided to introduce a new law aimed at curbing the possession of illegal weapons across the country.

According to sources, the Law Ministry has started working on legislation that will allow citizens to voluntarily surrender illegal weapons and licenses within a specified period. The proposed law will grant a one-time amnesty window for the return of illegal arms.

Those who fail to surrender illegal weapons within the given deadline will face legal action, including registration of cases. The draft law proposes stringent punishments, ranging from a minimum of 10 years imprisonment to life imprisonment for the possession of illegal weapons.

Officials say the new legislation aims to reduce the circulation of unlicensed firearms and strengthen the government’s efforts against illegal arms networks. The Law Ministry is currently finalizing the details of the proposed bill before presenting it for approval.
