Punjab Govt to Train 1,000 Youth as Professional Tourist Guides

The Punjab government has decided to train 1,000 young people as professional tourist guides in a move aimed at developing skilled manpower for the province’s tourism sector.

The Rs. 372 million project will be implemented within one year and will prepare guides according to international standards for tourist, historical and religious sites across the province.

Under the initiative, selected participants will receive training in history, culture, tourist guidance, digital skills and professional ethics. A formal certification system will also be introduced to provide young people with recognized professional training.

The move is expected to help build a trained pool of guides who can assist visitors and contribute to a more professional tourism experience in the province. The project also aims to replace untrained guides with certified professionals at key destinations.

Authorities expect the availability of professionally trained guides to strengthen confidence among domestic and international tourists and contribute to an increase in visits.

The initiative is also expected to help showcase Punjab’s historical heritage more effectively at the global level by improving the quality of information and guidance available to visitors.
