Government Officer Fined Rs. 500,000 for Calling Female Colleague a Transgender

A government officer has been fined Rs. 500,000 by the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment for repeatedly harassing a female colleague by comparing her to a transgender person and making insulting remarks about her inability to have children.

According to the ruling, the officer repeatedly mocked the woman by likening her to the transgender community because she did not have children. The complaint stated that he also taunted her over her childlessness on multiple occasions.

In its decision, the Federal Ombudsperson ruled that the accused had deliberately used gender-based derogatory language as a tool to humiliate his colleague in the workplace.

The ruling emphasized that such conduct has no place in a professional environment and constitutes workplace harassment.

As a penalty, the officer was ordered to pay a Rs. 500,000 fine for his actions. The decision reinforces the need for respectful workplace behavior and accountability for gender-based harassment in public institutions.
