HP is announcing a new fleet of laptops and AIOs at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. The new portables include updates to the Spectre x360 and EliteBook x360, while the premium Envy AIO has been updated too.
Spectre x360
HP’s mainstream convertible laptop is getting a timely update in the display segment, now coming with a 15.6″ 4K touch-enabled display by default. Under the hood, in CPU options you can go all the way to a Core i7 processor, RAM options up to 16 GB, and storage options up to 1 TB SSD. Graphical needs are met by a GeForce 940MX.
In a bid to make the x360 last longer, HP has actually made the design slightly thicker, from 15.9mm to 17.8mm. As a result the battery now lasts three hours longer, at 12 hours and 45 minutes. The overall device does get narrower from 14.8 to 14-inches. Connectivity includes, Type-C, USB 3.1, HDMI and Thunderbolt 3, alongside new Bang & Olufsen speakers and a Windows Hello-compatible IR camera.
The 13.3-inch version is still here but comes with a 1080p display, integrated graphics, same battery life as well as Kaby Lake processors.
The 15-inch version will launch in February for $1280.
EliteBook x360
HP is positioning its EliteBook x360 as the thinnest enterprise-grade convertible at 14.9mm. This laptop comes in only the 13-inch flavour, with resolution options including both Full HD as well as 4K.
CPU options go all the way up to an Intel Kaby Lake i7-7600U, RAM up to 16 GB and storage up to 512 GB SSD. Graphics needs are met by Intel HD Graphics 620.
For connectivity, you get Type-C with Thunderbolt, 2 USB 3.1, HDMI 1.4, microSD, and microSIM. There’s a fingerprint scanner as well as an IR camera with Windows Hello support.
Pricing starts at 1099 Euros.
Envy 34” All-in-One
The Envy line-up is also gaining a new gloriously large display. Coming with a 3440 x 1440 curved 34” display, the new AIO has a Kaby Lake processor, Radeon RX 460, 16 GB RAM and either a 1 TB HDD or 256 GB SSD.
4 USB 3.1, Thunderbolt 3 Type-C, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and SD card reader can be found. A Windows Hello compatible webcam is also included.
Pricing starts at $1730.
Omen X 35
Lastly, if it’s only a display you’re after, HP has got you covered with a 35” monitor with similar 3440 x 1440 resolution. With a refresh rate of 100Hz, the Omen X 35 also supports Nvidia’s G-Sync for fluid, smooth as silk gameplay. There are 3 USB 3.1 ports, as well as DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 for connectivity.
Pricing starts at $1300.
What about the bottom-runs–very-hot issues with HP Spectre x360? The reason that ultrabook was failure because the bottom ran very hot!!! Is that issue fixed in this latest version?
