Pakistan army on Monday planted 2 million trees in a single day under the campaign “Sarsabz o Shadab Pakistan”, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Qamar Bajwa and his wife initiated the National Tree Plantation campaign and requested all Pakistanis to participate in this noble activity, said Director General (DG) of ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor.
“Trees are life. Plant trees to save lives,” said General Bajwa on this memorable occasion.
DG ISPR earlier announced the tree plantation campaign via a tweet.
COAS will initiate simultaneous plantation of two million trees today across the country under army arrangements with a planned target of 10 million trees during this monsoon.
PTI, which is expected to form the next government with Imran Khan as the new Prime Minister, also plans to move towards a greener Pakistan in order to tackle the adverse climate changes. The party has already completed its 1 billion tree challenge in KP during its previous tenure.

PTI’s Malik Amin Aslam, who is expected to become the new environment minister, informed that a 10 billion tsunami tree program will see trees being planted nationwide across the four provinces.
Previously, PTI also launched a tree planting campaign where the government surpassed its target by restoring and planting trees on 350,000 hectares of the degraded landscape. The campaign simultaneously helped KP fulfill its 348,400-hectare commitment to the Bonn Challenge – a global effort to bring 150 million hectares of deforested and degraded land into restoration by 2020 and 350 million hectares by 2030.
