The latest satellite images released from the National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA) have shown that Pakistan is among the world’s fastest greening countries due to reforestation efforts.
Pakistan’s arable land has been growing in double digits over the last few decades. A significant change was seen in the previous four to five years. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report, the country’s arable land grew by 600,000 hectares between 2014 and 2016.
In two years, it increased from 36,252,000 hectares to 36,844,000 hectares.
Due credit must be given to the Billion Tree Tsunami initiative started by the Prime Minister Imran Khan in Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 2014-15.
On the other hand, Pakistan has also experienced deforestation during this period. The area under forests has shrunk from 1,515,000 hectares in 2014 to 1.429,000 hectares in 2016.
Kudos to PMIK for taking this brilliant initiative! It’s time to spread Billion Tree Tsunami in every part of Pakistan!

Well,
this is the main difference between and leader and visionary leader.
So the Billion Tree Tsunami initiative is an abyssmal failure, as Pakistan has lost 85,000 hectares of forest.
it says there was deforestation in 2014 to 2016. On the other hand in the last 2 years, it increased from 36,252,000 hectares to 36,844,000 hectares.
It has nothing to do with Imran Khan. It’s more to do with provincial governments awareness campaigns to promote agroforestry practices.
I work in agriculture, I know what I’m saying.

nice, can you share NASA reference/source for this information.
fake and fabricated news. source not mentioned
The green cover includes mostly agriculture, pixel size 500m MODIS satellite data. You are saying this is due to the billion tree tsunami. That’s is completely wrong and misleading please have a look original NASA post. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/ames/human-activity-in-china-and-india-dominates-the-greening-of-earth-nasa-study-shows
