Nescafe’s Basement’s recent hit is an original track with an 8-year-old vocalist. You heard that right. 8-year-old Hadiya Hashmi has become an Internet sensation with her cover of Bol Hu.
Hadiya Hashmi Sings Bol Hu at Nescafe Basement
You can listen to her beautiful singing debut here:
Bol Hu is a track by the folk band Soch. It is a Sufi track.
The band comprising Adnan Dhool and Rabi Ahmed has always had an earthy sound.
Adnan Dhool’s husky, gritty vocals are complemented by Hadiya Hashmi’s worn but innocent voice. This young girl has a really well-trained and worn-in voice for an 8-year-old.
The objective behind Soch’s music is to think about the harsh realities of life. And nothing succeeds in driving that point home as an innocent child’s voice, which really adds to what the song is about.
The track was produced by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan. Soch’s guitarist Rabi Ahmed was joined by Haroon Leo. Zain Pirzada and Sherry Khattak’s electric guitars added the extra oomph the track needed.
Jamil Ayan brings that authentic folk sound with his Dumbura, while Veeru Shan’s Dhulya, Djembe, Tambourine brought the bass.
The violins in the strings section added a layered sweetness in the background.
