LUMS Under Fire for Celebrating Diwali on Campus

The ‘elitist’ Pakistani university is under criticism once again for its unusual trends.

The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is trending on social media for celebrating the Hindu festival Diwali on campus, and is now under fire once again.

LUMS is usually known as the ‘Harvard of Pakistan’ because it sets an unusually high bar for Pakistanis and gives parallel universe vibes to citizens and its students. It is one of the top universities in Pakistan, but that doesn’t exclude it from controversies.

The Harvard of Pakistan is trending online once again, but this time, its for Diwali celebration on campus.

Here are a few tweets about the incident:

The university polishes some of the top minds throughout Pakistan. These future innovators have access to the best teachers, facilities, and opportunities, and a core part of this is their observance of merit. However, Diwali is a minority religious festival, and LUMS students celebrating it on a major scale is unusual.
