Picture this: Indian cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, dressed as a cop, wielding a lathi and delivering a filmy-style smackdown to a criminal. It’s a scene nobody saw coming, as “Dada” took everyone by surprise with his acting debut in Netflix’s upcoming original series Khakee: The Bengal Chapter.
Ganguly starred in a hilarious teaser for the show where he auditions for the role of a police officer and even confronts a Greg Chappellesque character, referencing their tumultuous history. The ad cleverly plays on the former cricketer’s past with the line “Sahara to Bahara,” which can be interpreted as “bahar aa” (come out).

Ganguly expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “As someone who has always been passionate about thrillers and cop dramas, Khakee as a franchise is definitely one of my favorites. So when Netflix approached me, I was excited to collaborate with them for the newest installment of Khakee – The Bengal Chapter, in the capacity of a superfan.” He added, “The series has been extensively shot in Kolkata, and the gripping narrative and stellar performances make it a must-watch for anyone who appreciates a well-made thriller.”
Directed by the talented Neeraj Pandey, with Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray at the helm, Khakee: The Bengal Chapter features a stellar cast, including Jeet Madnani, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and Chitrangda Singh, among others.
Khakee: The Bengal Chapter will be available for streaming on Netflix starting March 20.
