Guess who’s back? The one and only Ali Zafar is returning to perform the official anthem for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL X). The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made the announcement on social media, and fans are already buzzing with excitement.
Ali Zafar, the man behind some of PSL’s most iconic anthems, is no stranger to setting the stage on fire. Remember Ab Khel Jamay Ga from 2017? It’s still the anthem that gets everyone hyped for PSL season. He also gave us “Ab Khel Ke Dikha” (2016), “Dil Se Jaan Laga De” (2018), and “Khul Ke Khel” last year, proving time and again that he’s the king of PSL music.
This year, Ali Zafar is not just performing but has also composed the anthem himself. Talk about a one-man show! Fans are thrilled to see him back, with many saying PSL just isn’t the same without his electrifying tunes.
While Zafar took a break, other artists stepped in to keep the tradition alive. Fawad Khan and Young Desi’s “Khel Deewano Ka” (2019) was a hit, and “Tayyar Hain” (2020) brought together a star-studded lineup of Ali Azmat, Haroon, Asim Azhar, and Arif Lohar.
Then came “Groove Mera” (2021), a bold experiment featuring Aima Baig, Naseebo Lal, and Young Stunners. More recently, “Agay Dekh” (2022) by Atif Aslam and Aima Baig and “Sab Sitaray Humaray” (2023) by Asim Azhar, Shae Gill, and Faris Shafi have kept the PSL anthem tradition alive.
PSL 10 kicks off on April 11, with Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The tournament will feature 34 matches across Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi, wrapping up on May 18.
Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the final and Eliminators, while Rawalpindi gets the first Qualifier. Oh, and there’s an exhibition match in Peshawar on April 8—details coming soon!
