The wait is over! After 14 years, the Final Destination franchise is back with its latest installment, Final Destination Bloodlines, and the official trailer has finally arrived.

The film, set to release exclusively in theaters on May 16, promises to take fans back to where it all began—Death’s sadistic design.

The new trailer offers a chilling glimpse into the storyline, which centers on the descendants of a woman who cheated Death long before the events of the original Final Destination. For years, she’s managed to outrun Death, but now it’s back to claim the souls that were never meant to exist.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.

The film stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, and Anna Lore, with Brec Bassinger. Fans will also see the late horror icon Tony Todd in his final big-screen appearance as William Bludworth, the franchise’s enigmatic mortician.

Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, Final Destination Bloodlines is rated “R” for “strong violent/grisly accidents, and language.” The screenplay is penned by Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor, with a story by Jon Watts, Busick, and Taylor. The film is based on characters created by Jeffrey Reddick.

New Line Cinema’s latest chapter promises to explore the origins of Death’s design, taking audiences on a terrifying journey into the past while delivering the franchise’s signature gruesome and inventive deaths.
