TV anchor Mureed Abbas, who was associated with a private news channel, was shot dead in Karachi last night.
The firing incident took place at a local restaurant on Tuesday night, which also claimed the life of Mureed’s friend Khizar Hayat.
The shooter, Atif Zaman – a close friend and business partner of Abbas – fled the shooting scene. He later committed suicide at home. He reportedly shot himself an hour later after killing the TV journalist over an alleged business-related dispute.
Police raided his house timely and found him bleeding profusely. Atif was shifted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.
