TV anchor Mureed Abbas, who was associated with a private news channel, was shot dead in Karachi last night.
The firing incident took place at a local restaurant on Tuesday night, which also claimed the life of Mureed’s friend Khizar Hayat.
The shooter, Atif Zaman – a close friend and business partner of Abbas – fled the shooting scene. He later committed suicide at home. He reportedly shot himself an hour later after killing the TV journalist over an alleged business-related dispute.
Police raided his house timely and found him bleeding profusely. Atif was shifted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

Initial investigations reveal that Zaman owed money to Mureed and had been delaying the return. The duo had had a verbal spat the other day.
Later, the killer reportedly called Mureed at a local café under the pretext of returning the money and shot him.

Abbas’ wife released a video soon after the shooting, claiming that her husband had invested Rs. 5 million in Zaman’s tire business. He owed them money and upon their demand, had threatened them of dire consequences.
“We had invested our money in his business and he [Zaman] wasn’t giving it back to us and others, he would always make excuses,” she said.
A case has been registered in Darakhshan Police Station of DHA, Karachi.

The Incident is very sad no doubt, but the question arises that how this man was able to invest personally an amount 75 million /7.5 carore/75000000?
From where n how he managed such a huge amount to I vest?
It seems all such questions have been rapped under the carpet of grief, n body is willing to investigate the dirt
