Ever been a fan of foot long rolls?  Well, why wouldn’t you?  They taste absolutely delicious, unlike most bread. And this bread in particular, is soft, fluffy and full of cheesy chicken goodness.

Even though it seems so fancy, this cheesy chicken roll recipe is pretty effortless to make with easy ingredients probably lying around your house. The bread takes a little while to create but we’re positive you’ll end up with the best-stuffed bread ever and it’ll be all worth it!

Follow these simple steps and we’re sure you’ll have the most delicious, homemade, fancy, inexpensive, foot-long cheesy chicken roll at your iftar table!

Ingredients for Cheesy Chicken Roll Recipe

For dough

  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 salt
  • 1 ½ tbsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder

 For filling

  • 500 g chicken mince
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp  garlic paste
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 3 tbsp green chili paste
  • 1 cup red beans (boiled)
  • 1 cup white beans (boiled)
  • 1/2 cup corn (boiled)
  • 2 onion sliced
  • 1 tbsp mix herb
  • 1 ½ tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp red crushed chilies
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 pack mozzarella cheese grated or cubed

Method for Making Cheesy Chicken Roll


  • Knead a soft dough with all mentioned (dough) ingredients.
  • Allow dough to rest and prove for approx. an hour by covering it with a kitchen towel.


  • Warm the oil in a pan and fry the onions.
  • Then add all the remaining filling ingredients (except beans and corn) stir.
  • Allow the chicken to cook for 6-7 minutes on low heat, whilst the pan is covered. Cook until dry.

  • Add the red/white beans and corn, for an additional 2 minutes and set the pan aside to cool.

  • Make portions of the dough.

  • Roll each portion out into a rectangular shape. Then apply salted butter on one side of the rectangle dough.
  • Place the chicken mince and cheese over the dough and roll it into a foot long bread shape.


Tip: For a unique design, create slits on the side of the rectangle that has no filling. Carefully roll the dough.

  • Cut out the extra sides of the bread and seal the edges with water if needed.

  • Allow proving for an additional 20-25 minutes.
  • Lastly, egg wash the top of the foot long roll and bake into a preheated oven at 300 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
