Ingredients for Honey Chili Recipe

Coating Potatoes:

  • Potatoes – 4 cut into cubes
  • Salt – 2 Tsp
  • Water- 4 cups
  • Plain Flour – 1 heaped tbsp
  • Rice Flour – 1 heaped tbsp
  • Plain Flour – 1/4 cup
  • Rice Flour – 1/4 cup
  • Salt – 1/2 Tsp
  • Water – to make a thick batter
  • Oil – to deep fry

Chicken coating:

  • Chicken – 1 breast piece cubed
  • Plain Flour – 1 heaped tbsp
  • Rice Flour – 1 heaped tbsp
  • Plain Flour – 1/4 cup
  • Rice Flour – 1/4 cup
  • Salt – 1/2 Tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 Tsp
  • Water – to make a thick batter
  • Oil – to deep fry
  • Sesame Seeds – 1 tbsp

Sauce:

  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Garlic – 4-5 cloves
  • Green Chili – 2 – 3 slit
  • Onion – 1 small sliced
  • Capsicum – 1/2 small sliced
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1/2 Tsp
  • Soya Sauce – 1 tsp (light)
  • Red Chili Sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Ketchup – 1 tbsp
  • Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
  • Black pepper powder 1 tsp
  • Water – 1/2 cup
  • Corn Flour – 1 tsp dissolved in 3 tbsp of water
  • Spring Onion – 1/4 cup
  • Honey – 2 tbsp

Method for Making Chili Chicken Recipe

  • Boil the potatoes in 4 cups of water along with 2 tsp of salt for 5 minutes. Drain potatoes.
  • In a bowl add in 1tbsp of plain flour and 1tbsp of rice flour and mix well, add in the semi-boiled potatoes and toss in the flour mixture until well coated.
  • In another bowl add in 1/4 cup rice flour, 1/4 cup flour, 1/2 tsp salt and water as per needed to create a thick batter.
  • After the batter is ready, coat the potatoes well in the mixture. Deep fry in a wok of hot oil for 4 minutes and drain access oil.

 

 

  • For the chicken, in a bowl add in 1tbsp of plain flour and 1tbsp of rice flour and mix well, add in the chicken and toss in the flour mixture until well coated.
  • In another bowl add in 1/4 cup rice flour, 1/4 cup flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp red chili powder, and water as per needed to create a thick batter.
  • After the batter is ready, coat the chicken well in the mixture. Deep fry in a wok of hot oil for 4 minutes and drain access oil.

 

 

  • After the chicken and potatoes have been fried flash fry the chicken and potatoes (separately) again for 1 minute, this will make both the components crunchy!

For the sauce

  • In a pan, add 2 tbsps of oil, sauté the garlic, sesame seeds and green chili for a minute.

  • Add in the onion and stir fry for 2 minutes.

  • Add in the soya sauce, red chili sauce, ketchup, salt, sugar, capsicum, and red chili powder and black pepper powder mix well.

 

  • Add in 1/2 cup water and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.

 

  • After the water has evaporated, thicken the mixture with the dissolved corn flour (add as per needed, 1 tsp of the dissolved cornflour mixture at a time to reach the desired consistency)
  • After the sauce has thickened, add in the chicken and potatoes and mix well. Lastly, add in honey and garnish with spring onion, Serve immediately.
