Paneer, or cottage cheese. All wholesome and home-made.


Who all here loves cottage cheese (also known as Palak Paneer)?

I know I do and I’m sure you will too, especially after you find out how easy it is to make. Even though it may seem difficult, this cottage cheese recipe doesn’t involve hours of waiting. Its quick and easy.

This recipe will give you super soft and delicious cottage cheese. And the best part is that it’s all home-made, so there’s no added preservatives here. It’s light, airy, creamy and of course CHEESY!

But enough riff-raff, lets get to the recipe now!


Cook Like a Pro: Crazy Casserole for Pasta Lovers [Recipe]

Cottage Cheese Ingredients

  • Milk 2kg
  • Vinegar 1/2 cup
  • Salt 2 tbsp


Bring the salt and milk to a boil.


Once the milk is boiled, add the vinegar. Mix them until the the mixture is curdled and separated.


Strain the curdled milk with a muslin cloth (or a fine sieve) and allow the excess whey to drain out for 5-7 minutes.

Shift the leftover mixture in a cottage cheese container, and place weight to drain any leftover moisture.


Store in an airtight container. Remove from container after 30 minutes to an hour.

Now you’ve got yourself some good, old-fashioned cottage cheese (aka Palak Paneer). Now all that remains is to cut the cheese into small cubes and enjoy!


You can use this as a base recipe, plus you can also add herbs and flavorings as per your desire. Serve this with crackers, bread, bagels or eat it all by itself (yes it’s that good!).
