Cinnabons are a worldwide loved delicacy, crispy and firm from the outside and tender and moist from the inside. The perfectly sweet balance of sugar and cinnamon spice, it’s too good to be true!

However, cinnabons can prove to be quite heavy on your wallet. Guess what? It doesn’t have to be!

We’ve prepared a simple yet delicious recipe that’ll allow you to recreate these sweet things at home. The best part is it tastes just like the original.

Ingredients for Cinnabon Recipe

Dough

  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2¼ tsp of instant dry yeast
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp. salt

Filling

  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Vanilla Glaze

  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp. milk

Method to Prepare Cinnabon Recipe

Dough

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a stand mixer or by hand

 

  • Knead until smooth.

  • Allow the dough to prove for 20 minutes.

  • Roll the dough out into a huge rectangle

 

Filling

  • Brush the entire rectangle shaped dough with butter and vanilla extract

  • Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon thoroughly and sprinkle on top of the buttered dough

  • roll the dough into a tight cylinder width-wise

  • cut the dough into small portions by crossing a thread against the cylinder and you should end up with something like the image below (You can also use a knife/pizza roller to cut the dough)

  • gently press down on each Cinnabon (filling side up) with your palm to slightly flatten it.
  • Place the Cinnabons on a tray, placing them at least half an inch away from each other as they will rise in the oven.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes or until light golden brown.

Vanilla Glaze

  • While cinnabons are baking, prepare the glaze by combining the powdered sugar, butter, and vanilla extract, mix and incorporate milk a little at a time. Mix well every time you add a little milk, the glaze should be thick and ribbon-like.
  • Make sure you don’t go overboard with the milk. Allow the glaze to rest for a few minutes and give it a final stir.

  • Drizzle the glaze over the freshly baked cinnabons and serve warm!

Tip: Microwave the Cinnabon for 20 seconds if it gets cold. Enjoy.
