Dunkin Donuts Karachi Factory Gets Sealed And Here’s Where it Gets Truly Bizarre

Here’s what happened.

Recently there was a raid on the Dunkin Donuts’ Karachi factory in SITE industrial area. The raid was conducted by the Sindh Food Authority (SFA). Upon further investigation, authorities found that DD Karachi was not maintaining the required Food Safety Regulations.

The factory was sealed on the spot and a fine of Rs. 250,000 was imposed on Dunkin Donuts Karachi. The decision was based on their usage of expired products such as bunties, chocolates and other sub-standard ingredients in the factory.

Traces of rodent feces were also discovered on the site. SFA Operations Director Imtiaz Abro discarded the substandard food items and issued a fine.

A majority of the people were shocked and confused with the above-mentioned statement. They didn’t understand how they could be different, and not the one and the same.

What does it mean?

As per available details. DD Karachi is a separate entity as it had an independent license agreement with Dunkin Donuts USA.

The other branches of DD in other cities, namely Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar, are licensed by another company, which also has their own agreement with DD USA.

Both the franchises are independent of each other. However, they’re required to follow the required food safety rules as set by the provincial food safety authorities.

  1. It is possible that owners of similar brand franchise are different companies run by different people. People in Pakisran don’t know how the business is run by American companies. They can award license for their to different individuals in different cities. The owner of Dunkin Donut in Karachi has violated terms of his agreement with Dunkin Donuts parent company in America. We should complain to the parent company and they will promptly cancel franchise contract with these dirty people in Karachi.
