‘Eho Jaeya, Oho Jaeya!?’: Mahira Khan Reveals Struggle to Speak Punjabi for The Legend of Maula Jatt

The actress essayed the character of Mukkho Jatti in Bilal Lashari’s hit film.

Actress Mahira Khan hilariously revealed a fun incident from the sets of her new movie, The Legend of Maula Jatt, in which she struggles to enunciate Punjabi words in her script.

She essayed the character of Mukkho Jatti in Bilal Lashari’s and gave was interviewed by Fuchsia Magazine, with whom she shared her experience working in the mega-budget film.

“I just kept saying ‘Oh Jaeya, Aye Jaeya’, Mahira explained her struggle on set. “And that was also the scene where I had to say it in front of hundreds of people,” she added as even her co-star Faris Shafi had to come out and help her.

The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Mahira Khan, was opened to packed but limited cinemas across Pakistan and internationally from 13 October onward. Despite garnering rave reviews, the domestic release has been marred by a deadlock between distributors and major cinema houses nationwide.

Mahira Khan is one of the biggest stars of the Pakistani industry who made a name for herself with hit projects such as Humsafar, Shehr-e-Zaat, Bol, Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay, and Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad. There are rumors floating that the actress is set to work with Hollywood actor Will Smith in Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s directorial film Brilliance.

  1. Should not have happened on the set or interview session by the character playing Makkho. Only the character Makkho, she was and not a Pakistani star at that moment.

    It’s not hilarious, rather questions her selection for this phenomenal movie.

  2. Some may not agree, but she’s the only letdown in this movie. There were so many competent actress more suited to this role. She fails to get out of her typical style of delivery.
