When it first debuted, Mere Paas Tum Ho changed TV show ratings history in Pakistan. Its first episode aired last year in August, and the popularity that it garnered left everyone stunned. People flocked to the cinemas to watch Nadeem Baig directorial’s finale. Such was the hype for the drama during those days. But now, it seems that the Pakistani drama has finally met its match, and that too from a foreign drama.
That show is none other than DiriliÅŸ: ErtuÄŸrul, and it has left the Pakistani show behind in viewership records. Let’s take a look at both the shows’ YouTube viewership numbers.
Mere Pass Tum Ho had the most popular Pakistani celebrities in the show, like Ayeza Khan, Humayun Saeed, Meher Bano, and Adnan Siddiqui. It was almost inevitable that the show would be a huge success. Mere Paas Tum Ho broke all records with its finale. The show was the common basis of discussion in many households.
What about now?
However over at YouTube, we can now say that Ertugrul is at the top of the charts in Pakistan for viewership. As of today, the Turkish historical series’ first episode has a whopping 74 million view count. While Mere Paas Tum Ho has garnered 22 million views for its first episode.
Ertugrul has changed the world of entertainment in Pakistan, and the public has been demanding more Pakistani shows to take pointers from it. Even Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar reported that he is penning down a historical show similar to the Turkish series.
We hope to see a change in the scripts of Pakistani dramas. After all, that’s what the public is hoping to see in upcoming shows.
