Meesha Shafi - Ali Zafar

The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing booked singer Meesha Shafi as well as eight other people who were allegedly involved in a smear campaign against popular actor and singer Ali Zafar.

The FIA’s decision to book Meesha and eight other came on Monday as the singer failed to bring any evidence in their allegations against the Teefa In Trouble star.

It has been a long court battle between these two popular musicians. The case started when Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar for harassing her. Meesha’s accusations were backed by actor and host Iffat Omar as well as a few other people. However, in response, Ali Zafar filed a defamation case against Meesha and eight other people for starting a smear campaign against him without any evidence.

After months of court sessions and proceedings, the FIA special court filed an FIR against Meesha Shafi and eight others for a non-cognizable offence. The special court has booked Meesha Shafi, actor-host Iffat Omar, Leena Ghani, Fariha Ayub, Maham Javaid, Ali Gul, Haseemuz Zaman Khan, Humna Raza and Syed Faizan Raza under section 20 (1) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and R/W 109-PPC.

“Prior permission from the special court is required by the investigation officer to arrest the suspects as it is a non-cognizable offence,” an official told reporters.

It should be noted that despite repeated summons by the court, Meesha has been unable to appear in person. She spends most of her time abroad, and was last seen in public in Karachi during the celebrities protest for the motorway rape incident.
