Dobara cast Bilal Abbas Khan as Mahir. In the drama serial Mehrunnisa, an older widowed woman marries a young Mahir. This sparked a lot of dialogue online about the acceptability of much older men marrying young girls but women being shamed for marrying younger partners.
During an interview when asked if Hadiqa Kiani would ever take a step like Mehrunissa, the singer-cum-actress said;
“If there was Mahir in my life, I would definitely take that step. When there’s no Mahir in my life, how can I even think of that? Hadiqa Kiani would take the same step if there was such a compatible Mahir in her life.”
