Just last month, the Pakistani TikToker came under fire over her decision to move to Japan while supporting the ban on TikTok in her native country. The ban has now been lifted after an agreement between the app makers and the Pakistani telecommunications watchdog.
As the story goes, Jannat Mirza was slammed by the public for supporting Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) ban on the video-streaming platform while moving to Japan herself. They felt that her words were ironic, hypocritical even. Many folks pointed out that despite data security concerns, Japan has not made a move to ban TikTok, making it a good place for an influencer on the platform.

Jannat Mirza has a change of heart
However, in a recent live session, it seems Jannat has taken a u-turn on that decision. The social media influencer now says that she is not moving to Japan permanently but is only going there for her studies. She adds that she will return to Pakistan after completing her education.
“I am not moving to Japan, I will come back to my Pakistan after completing my studies and have plans to work behind the camera as well as director or producer.”
The reason why people think Jannat sounds insincere is that she had previously said that she’s moving to Japan due to the mentality of Pakistanis. Now the Pakistani TikToker asserts that she was moving to Japan permanently because of an unsafe environment for women in Pakistan.
Adding to her recent statements, she says that she was misquoted by media outlets.
Previously she had told fans that she would return in November.
