Justice Served: Husband, Accomplice Jailed for Torturing Wife

Good riddance.

The Lahore Police have arrested the husband and one of the two accomplices who helped him brutally beat his wife for refusing to dance before them.

The horrific incident of domestic violence has shocked Pakistanis from all walks of life. It reportedly took place in a posh locality in DHA, Lahore.

The husband, Mian Faisal, and his friends have crossed all limits when it comes to depravity. Not only did they beat his wife for refusing to dance in front of them, they also shaved her head off.

According to the victim, Asma Aziz, she contacted the Kahna police station to lodge an FIR against the culprits. The police, instead of doing their duty, demanded a hefty bribe in return.

Seeing no other recourse to getting justice, Asma uploaded her video on social media in which she detailed the shockingly vile treatment meted out to her.

Social Media to the Rescue

In the video that went viral on social media, Asma’s appearance speaks volumes. Visible marks of torture can be seen all over her face, and yet there’s no question on how brave she has been regarding the whole affair. She explained how her husband tortured her for not dancing in front of his friends, who also happened to be his employees.

Asma said that Faisal used to hit her, and this time he warned that he could hang her naked from the fan. Asma further alleges that her clothes were bloody and she was beaten with a pipe.

Faisal was a serial abuser and used to beat Asma a lot.

“But that day he went too far. He tore off my clothes in front of two employees who held me while he shaved off my head and burnt my hair,” Asma revealed in a Twitter video.

Human Rights Minister Responds

Asma’s plea went viral over social and mainstream media. It even prompted action from the Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari.

Hours after the video was uploaded, Mazari tweeted, saying that she had taken notice and looked into the case.

“My office was informed by station house officer of police station Kahna, Lahore: Police has registered FIR and arrested both accused and booked under sections 337(v) and 506. The medical report of the woman is awaited. One of the arrested is her husband.”

Asma Needs Your Help

Asma further appealed that she has nowhere to go as both her parents have passed away. She requested NGOs and people to help her start a new life.

Meanwhile, the husband has confessed to torturing Asma and said the two were regular drug addicts.

In a statement before the police, he also admitted that they weren’t a happy couple and used to fight a lot.

Both suspects have been sent on a four-day physical remand.
