Mere Paas Tum Ho and KRQ

The ending of Mere Paas Tum Ho had fans say ‘what was the writer thinking?’. To answer that question, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar shares exactly what he was thinking while making that decision.

The part about the drama’s finale that most found unsavory was the death of protagonist Danish (Humayun Saeed). Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has been known to end things on a tragic note. Yet the cliffhanger with Mehwish (Ayeza Khan), where she never gets to knowing Danish’s answer, is what left people in agony.

In an interview, the Pyarey Afzal writer stated;

“She (Mehwish) should not die, she must live and regret her whole life. That’s the biggest lesson for her.”

According to KRQ, the reason he killed Danish was to set him free. He clearly could not move on from Mehwish, so the writer decided he might as well move on to the after-life.

“He is free after death. He could not go to another woman that’s why he died.”
