TikTok Related Deaths

Many TikTok related deaths involve minors having access to firearms. Whether or not the video-sharing platform is banned does not affect the problem of gun control. Personal licensed firearms are issued for personal safety but they are jeopardizing the safety of tweens and teens.

Just days ago, a 10th grader hailing from Abbottabad killed himself while shooting a TikTik video. The teenage boy accidentally shot and killed himself while filming in his home in the Bagan neighborhood of Abbottabad.

On June 21st, another teenager, 17-year-old Tanveer shot and killed himself while shooting a TikTok video in Karachi.

Around that time a 17-year-old died under the same circumstances in Sialkot. The minor had access to his father’s licensed firearm and pulled the trigger while holding the gun to his own temple.

In another incident that occurred on December 29th, in the Kharota Syedan area of Sialkot, 16-year-old, Ammar Haider, was accidentally shot dead while making TikTok videos with his friends.

A TikTok ban will not solve the problem of controlling teenagers’ access to firearms.
