Her autopsy report had already confirmed that it was a case of rape and murder.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana, Masood Bangash, says the police will conclude their investigation into the Nimrita Kumari murder case within a week.

He made these remarks while speaking to media outside the regional NADRA complaint office. Bangash maintained that the poor quality of evidence sent to police caused hurdles in a proficient investigation of the case.

SSP Larkana rebuffed the notion that the police was playing foul or covering up in favor of one party. They stated that the police received evidence in a damaged condition.

‘Friends Damaged Evidence’

He said the deceased student’s room was crowded by the warden, her classmates, and friends before the police arrived at the scene. This could have compromised substantial evidence such as fingerprints, DNA, and other evidence on her clothes and in the room.

“Police party reached the scene two and a half-hours after the case was reported.”

He also rejected the blame of being under the influence of ‘someone’ to detrail the investigations.

The case was initially declared a suicide, but after a massive uproar on social media, a judicial inquiry was started into the case.

Later, the autopsy report confirmed that she was raped and killed as male DNA was found on her body, and that she was strangled with a rope.

One of her male friends is already in police custody over suspicion of being involved in her murder. However, the interrogation reports have not been made public so far.
