‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ to be Screened in India

Divided by land, united by movies.

The blockbuster Pakistani movie, The Legend of Maula Jatt, will be released in India on 30 December, as per reports by Indian media.

It was previously scheduled to be released in India on 23 December 23 but was delayed for uncertain reasons.

The Legend of Maula Jatt‘s success and fame has made it possible for India’s pioneering cinema chain, PVR Cinemas, to screen it in Indian Punjab

According to Indian sources, “A lot of people in India, especially the fans of the lead cast, are looking forward to seeing the film, and it can have healthy box office numbers”.

“Zee Studios is mainly looking at releasing The Legend Of Maula Jatt in Delhi-NCR and Punjab. This is because it’s a Punjabi film and will have the maximum chance in the Northern belt. A clear decision on this aspect will be taken later on,” an Indian source said.

An industry expert remarked, “Maybe Zee can release The Legend of Maula Jatt on December 30 in the North and a week later, it can release it in the rest of the country once the word of mouth spreads. Or it can go for limited screenings in certain centers like Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, etc. Let’s see how this unique release strategy pans out”.

He explained the reason for the delay in release, saying, “On December 23, it would have faced competition from Cirkus. Next week, there’s only the Hindi version of HIT: The Second Case releasing and it’s not a strong competition. If The Legend of Maula Jatt works, it can have a healthy run till the release of Pathaan”.

Bilal Lashari and Ammara Hikmat’s magnum opus, The Legend of Maula Jatt, has engraved its name in Pakistani cinema history and is on an incredible box office run, leaving international blockbusters behind in its dust with an Rs. 2 million benchmark at the box office.

Written and directed by Bilal Lashari, with dialogues by Nasir Adeeb, The Legend of Maula Jatt features a star-studded cast, with Fawad Khan as the titular character, Hamza Ali Abbasi as Noori Natt, Mahira Khan as Mukkho Jatti, and Humaima Malick as Daaro Nattni. The supporting cast includes Mirza Gohar Rasheed, Faris Shafi, Ali Azmat, Shafqat Cheema, and Nayyer Ejaz.

From its record-breaking run at the Pakistani box office despite hiccups and screening issues, to outperforming Bollywood films in the global market, this epic Punjabi film is setting new benchmarks for the Pakistani film industry.

Prior to this development, the producer of The Legend of Maula Jatt, Ammara Hikmat, had expressed hope for it to reach Indian audiences but she had dismissed reports of any deals for its release in India.

Let’s see how it will spread its magic in India, the biggest rival of the Pakistani film industry.
