Beauty Amidst Chaos

The film follows the story of a young footballer and his family. Like most residents of Lyari, this family is dealing with poverty and injustice.

Faced with choices such as choosing between passion and family duty, will this boy come through as the talented footballer that he is?

That’s something you’ll have to watch the short film to find out:

A footballer from Lyari faces a dilemma where he has to choose between his passion and family duty.

Backdrop

It is no secret that the most densely populated area of Karachi and its’s oldest region Lyari is plagued by gang wars and violence.

Nazneen Baloch’s Lyari visualizes a hauntingly realistic account of the real situation on the ground. The film depicts the crushing reign of poverty there, and its people’s struggle to survive where people do not have the privilege of preaching morals. Because at the end of the day, making ends meet is all that matters.

The remarkable thing is, that all this adversity has not dented its people’s resolve and talent. Despite being haunted by bloodshed for years, Lyari has emerged a hub for talent (like a phoenix from the ashes).

Youngsters in Lyari are making their mark in every field. That’s what this short film is trying to frame.
