WHO Committee Shakes a Leg to BTS’s ‘Permission to Dance’ [Video]

Looks like the WHO members are BTS Army too!

A meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee in Manila, the Philippines, turned into a dance party on Wednesday as the members busted out some dance moves to BTS’s hit song Permission to Dance.

The video has gone viral on social media with people laughing and admiring the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghereyesus’s unique idea.

The WHO Director-General posted the video on Twitter and highlighted the importance of exercise. According to him, people should learn to take small breaks during long work hours.

The Director-General certainly has good taste, picking BTS’s Permission to Dance which got all of his colleagues at the meeting grooving to it.

Tedros wrote, “Physical exercise during long meetings is important. Thank you to WHO Western Pacific (WHOWPRO) colleagues for motivating us to stretch out bodies at 73rd regional committee”.

Tedros concluded his tweet with a reference to the South Korean boy band:

As BTS says – we don’t need #PermissionToDance or move. No matter what – be active, every step counts to keep yourself healthy!

Note that BTS had performed the same song at the UN Headquarters last September.

The Kings of K-Pop

The South Korean boy band is arguably the biggest music act in the world. The K-Pop group continues to grow in popularity even though the band is currently focusing on their solo activities. All seven members of the group will soon be enlisting for South Korea’s mandatory military service soon.

The band’s old member Jin made headlines today with the release of the highly-anticipated new song, The Astronaut with the British band, Coldplay. Coldplay and BTS had previously collaborated on the song My Universe as well.
