A petition has been filed in Lahore High Court seeking cancelation of licenses for those internet and broadband service providers who are unable (or reluctant) to block adult websites, despite PTA’s orders.
Kashif Waseem through his counsel Fahad Ahmad Siddiqi has filed the petition. He submits that pornography is one of the internets’ worst crimes against children. Easy availability of obscene material websites on the internet is resulting in increasing number of cases of sexual violence against women.
Siddiqi submitted that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had issued a list of 170,000, websites to the Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan, Wateen Telecom, WorldCall Telecom Limited, LINKdotNET, Wi-Tribe Wireless Broadband Internet Service, Broadband Internet Service Provider, Qubee Pakistan, Mobilink Infinity, COMSATS Internet services, and Pakistan Software Houses Association for directing them to stop providing access to porn sites.
He said none of these companies had complied with the PTA directions. He requested the court to cancel their licenses and direct the IGP to register criminal cases against the respondents.

ISP’s not blocking porn because if they do then no one will use their internet and immediately they will go into losses. They earn money because people buy internet for porn surfing only. This includes younger generation as majority the seniors especially managers in organisations.
Nayatel CEO posted statistics of what happened when they blocked. Traffic dropped ONLY 10%. That means most of the traffic was NOT porn related and most users are unaffected.

I fully support the decision that porn should be banned, but it can not be its the reality. It only can be banned if the Main servers stop hosting adult sites which is not possible, Its the agenda of Jews (Please forgive me if i use word Jew)
its so essay to see blocked sites, PTCL has blocked lot of sites but even just an simple trick every site works, I have checked it my self. I do not want to share the method with masses but i think if i know it (Just Simple MBA in finance ) not computer expert , The new generation is lot ahead form us in computer knowledge.

Started with a few videos that put the wrongs of our government in limelight, then porn, and now it seems that the government has right to block everything! They don’t even have to give a rationale on why they blocked a certain site. Days of internet freedom are over. every day new websites keep popping up in cyber space. how can the petitioner differentiate from reluctance of ISPs to emergence of new unknown and unreported websites? how far will some individual go on in advocating the use of internet by majority??banning is a one possible measure to encounter this menace but i think its way too impractical to check each and every website on world wide web.. and by the way i read somewhere the sale of such cds is on the rise in the market.

Selling/consuming alcoholic drinks is banned and we all know the situation? Don’t think blocking adult websites is going to change the situation in this case, those who want to watch all that stuff will find alternatives. Instead why don’t we try to educate ourselves and our kids to live a healthy life? And if this is being done in Islam’s name (yep I know I’m dragging religion in :-P ) then I must say Islam is nothing about forcing individuals. What’s next? Spying on everyone 24/7 so they don’t commit ‘zina’ ? Or should everyone (both genders :-P ) wear iron suits all the time to block ‘zina’ ? Pathetic!!!
