Zong’s Chairman & CEO, Mr. Liu Dianfeng said: Zong (China Mobile Pakistan) is committed to invest in Pakistan for the long term to support the Pakistani lifestyle reach new heights of development in the technology sector. Today’s MOU signing is the latest of such commitments proving its true essence for the young students of this country. Zong’s 4G can help Pakistani students in the research field and be a leader in the field of telecom and all educational sectors at an international level. Zong has the best 4G technology, the largest investment in Pakistan and we hope that this technology can help all sectors of Pakistan, education, healthcare, government, banking and the corporate sector.”

The establishment of an ever-advanced featured 4G research lab, with the help of ZTE, implies that the students of LUMS would be able to acquire the related online material instantaneously with Zong’s unbeatable speeds.

To a great deal, this would help them make their respective assignments, research papers, thesis and related material more accurate, credible, authentic and research-oriented.

Three In-Building Solutions (IBSs) would be installed and a Mini-Customer Services Centre (CSC) would be set up at LUMS as part of the research lab. LUMS will also use Zong’s Enterprise Solutions. Moreover, the telecom company will assist the varsity students in their research projects and will offer them externships.

Sharing his views, Vice Chancellor LUMS Sohail Naqvi said “We are excited to have this opportunity to work on interesting research and development projects in the telecom sector. Having the 4G platform opens a whole new world of possibilities for the students of LUMS.”

  • Students will be able to do their asdignments through high speed internet? This is the objective? Labs are always established for R&D in next generation technology and not to put IBS of an already mature technology. It would have been better if Zong has asked for LUMS help is preparing better business cases and products for their marketing department. It would have been even better if ZTE and zong had established a short range test 4g network with all core nodes so lums electrical and electronic engineeting students can experiment on it and do R&D on IoT. The only objective this lab will achieve is giving better signals inside the campus with 3 IBS and a service center to get recharge.
