First International Youth Summit 2017 will be held in Lahore, Pakistan from 6th November to 12th November. The aim of the summit is to strengthen global cooperation and set up rules for joint efforts to come up with sustainable development strategies in the fields of education and peace.
Center for Sustainability Research & Practice (CSRP) previously known as HILA is organising the summit in collaboration with co-organisers and partners, Ministry of Education Government of Punjab, Punjab Assembly, District Government Kasur, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) , Youth to Youth Initiative (Y2Y) and The Digital Factory (TDF).
Sustainability, peace, and education are the three main issues that will come under discussion during the conference. The world needs a transition from industrial economy to a renewable and sustainable economy. Participants of the summit will discuss the issue of sustainability and define the responsibility of an individual to protect their environment.
The summit will come up with new ideas and action plans for a more sustainable future. No society can prosper without peace and peace comes from within. If each and every individual becomes mindful of their words and actions, the world will know peace as it has never known before.
The summit is an effort to make people understand the correlation between peace and sustainability. The education system today is designed to turn students into robots who can obey but cannot think for themselves. The IYSL aims to come up with educational plans that are centred around innovative learning techniques, mindful communication between teachers and students, peer to peer learning, and other non formal learning procedures.
Young activists, professionals, young entrepreneurs, representatives of NGOs, academics, and journalists are eligible for applying to be a part of the summit. Participants from all over the world can submit the application form. Age limit for participants is 18-35.
The application form can be filled at IYSL’s website. Applications will be accepted till 31st August. The conference has no fee. Other expenses like food, accommodation, and transport will be taken care of by the organisers. The participants will be responsible for the airfare to and from Pakistan.
