HEC Suspends Admissions in 4 Universities

Higher Education Commission (HEC) has stopped 4 universities from accepting admissions. These universities are located across multiple cities in Pakistan.

The four varsities in question are:

  • Al-Khair University, Azad Jammu & Kashmir
  • Global Institute, Lahore
  • Imperial College of Business Studies, Lahore
  • Preston Institute of Management Sciences and Technology (PIMSAT), Karachi

An official notification was issued by the Director General of HEC on social media, announcing the suspension. Students are advised to avoid these universities and look for alternatives.

Degrees Will Not Be Recognized

The notification reads:

The Higher Education Commission advises students not to seek admission in the above mentioned institutions or institutes claiming to be associated with them as admissions in these institutes and their affiliates are suspended due to irregularities and mismanagement discovered in their operations.

Degrees from these universities/institutes and their affiliated branches or campuses will not be recognized by the HEC. To check which universities are officially recognized by the commission head to hec.gov.pk/site/HEIs.

NTC Scrapped For Undergraduate Tests

Recently HEC ended the NTC testing scheme for universities in order to revamp the whole process. A new government body was established. Called the “Education Testing Council” it announced a new Undergraduate Entry Test test for students seeking admissions after their 2nd year exams.

Dates for the test were announced at the start of July. Last date for applications was 12th July which was subsequently changed to 17th July to accommodate more admissions.
