Leak Reveals Xiaomi Mi Mix 3’s Front Design

Xiaomi is close to launching Mi Mix 3 –  a much-anticipated flagship phone in a series that kick-started the bezel-less trend back in 2016 with the original Mi Mix.

Pictures of a tempered glass protector belonging to a Mi Mix 3 have surfaced on Chinese social network Weibo, that gives a good estimate of its design. This time, the bottom bezel has been reduced even further, as compared to the previous Mi Mix 2S.

This is a good indicator that the front bottom bezel won’t be housing the selfie camera. Instead, a manual sliding camera design is highly likely.

Manual Camera Slider

The upcoming Mi Mix 3 will have significant design changes. Earlier this month, a video from an unofficial source revealed that the Mi Mix 3 will have a camera slider similar to Oppo Find X. The difference between the two, though, is that Mi Mix 3’s slider is manual, meaning it won’t use any motors to pop out automatically and will need to be manually slid out by the user.

And as seen on the top of the glass protector, there’s a cutout to leave some space for the earpiece. Seems like Xiaomi is not going for bone-conduction audio on this one, and is going to use a simple earpiece just like the predecessor. This is also a good indicator that the earpiece will also be used for music playback, by pairing with the main speaker somewhere below the phone.

As for the specifications, expect Xiaomi to go all out on this one, with a Snapdragon 845 and at least 6 GB RAM. The higher variant is highly likely to have 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB internal storage.
