Honor 8C Launched With Decent Hardware and Large Battery

Honor has launched another budget smartphone, with a large notched display, dual cameras, and a large battery called Honor 8C.

It has been launched in China at a decent price and it’s among the cheapest phones in its segment. Its internals are moderately powerful, but the phone is sure to last much longer because of its large battery and low-power chipset.

Read on for details.

Design & Display

Honor 8C front back

Honor 8C is a budget device but still managed to retain a trendy notched display. The chin on the bottom is quite visible and is larger than other phones, though the design itself is decent enough considering the price. A fingerprint sensor is also present on the rear, next to the dual cameras.

The display is a 6.26-inch IPS unit with a 720 x 1520 resolution. Honor says the screen-to-body ratio is 86.6% for the 19:9 display.

Hardware & Storage

The midranger runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 632 chipset with 4x 1.8 GHz Kryo 250 Gold and 4x 1.8 GHz Kryo 250 Silver cores. GPU is an adequate Adreno 506. RAM size has been kept at 4GB.

Internal storage comes in two different sizes of 32 or 64 GB. You can, however, extend it further by up to 256 GB via a dedicated microSD slot.

Camera & Software

Honor 8C retains the trendy, midrange camera set up consisting of a 13MP f/1.8 main camera and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor for background blur and portrait mode shots. HDR and 1080p (30fps) video recording is also present. Selfie camera is a basic 8MP f/2.0 sensor

It’ll run Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo, with the company’s own EMUI 8.2 software skin on top.

Battery, Price, & Availability

The new Honor phone has an impressive 4000 mAh battery. There’s no Type-C port and no fast charging either, so it might take longer than other phones to fully charge.
