Mobile Services Go Offline in Lahore

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has asked mobile phone operators to shut down their services in Lahore, ProPakistani has confirmed with sources.

According to details shared with ProPakistani, mobile telephony and wireless data services have been shut down in Lahore due to the prevailing law and order situation in the city.

The authorities haven’t announced a timeline regarding the restoration of services.

Sources have informed ProPakistani that services are currently offline in Lahore only; however, the closure could extend to other cities and areas in case the situation becomes worse.

It must also be noted that local authorities request the Interior Ministry to shut down mobile services. When approved by the concerning officials, Interior Ministry then orders PTA to shut down services in the respective areas.
