CM KP Bans Plastic Bags Across the Whole Province

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has ordered to ban the use of polythene bags (plastic bags) in the province to protect the environment from pollution.

He has directed to constitute a committee under the headship of KP Information Minister Shokat Yousafzai. The committee will find out an alternative to polythene bags.

The CM directed to finalize the terms of reference (TORs) and submit the report within 10 days. He also stressed the need for a comprehensive campaign via electronic, print, and social media to spread awareness for the general public in this regard.

He gave these directions while chairing a meeting regarding the ban on polythene bags and its alternate solution. Senior Provincial Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, Minister for Environment Ishtiaq Urmar, Information Minister Shokat Yousafzai, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Israr, and many other concerned government officials were present in the meeting.

Notably, the district administration of Peshawar has already banned the sale and use of all kinds of plastic shopping bags within the city.
