Government to Form Separate Consortium of Top Universities

The government has decided to form a consortium of the country’s top ten universities to get them in the list of world’s best 100 higher educational institutions.

Sources have revealed that the government has constituted a committee in this regard. The committee will select Pakistan’s top ten universities.

It will also compile a report on the selection of the top ten universities and will present it to the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Education.

Furthermore, the funding of the selected universities will also be separate from other educational institutions. This step is to give special focus to the universities that have the potential to make the list of top 100 international universities.

Currently, no Pakistani university could appear in the top 100 or even top 300 universities as per the QS rankings 2019. In fact, only seven Pakistani universities could come among the top 1000 in QS rankings 2019.
