Vivo S1 Brings Notchless Display & Popup Selfie Cam to Midrange

After the glamorous launch of the X27 and X27 Pro, Vivo has launched the pioneer of its S-series. Vivo S1 comes with a 6.53-inch bezel-less display (unless you count the chin) and a pop-up selfie camera.

With the specifications this phone features, S-series looks like a promising range of smartphones. It boasts a good battery time and impressive screen to body ratio.

Design and Display

Vivo S1 has a glass and plastic or “glassitic” gradient finish, the body reflects different colors when viewed from different angles. The triple rear cameras are present on the top left on an embossed patch with the fingerprint sensor right beside them. The selfie camera pops-up on activation from the top of the phone.

Vivo S1 features a 6.53 inches IPS LCD display with Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) resolution, with a pixel density of 395 PPI.

The front of the phone is completely bezel-less and provides a screen to body ratio of approximately 91 percent. It will be available in two colors: pink and blue.

Cameras

You don’t expect a mid-ranger to come with a pop-up selfie camera or a triple camera setup, but the Vivo S1 has them both.

It has a triple camera set up on the back with 12 MP main sensor, 8 MP wide-angle sensor and a 5 MP depth sensor. With such impressive overall features, we were at least expecting the main sensor to be more than 12 MP. However, the selfie camera has it all covered. The pop-up selfie camera installed is a single 24.8 MP camera that has its own flash as well.

Internals and Storage

It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P70 chipset and a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. Vivo S1 features 6 GB RAM with 128 GB built-in memory. The memory is expandable up to 256 GB.

This smartphone is also equipped with Game Turbo for an enhanced gaming experience. Moreover, it has a dedicated AI button for activating the Jovi assistant.

It uses Android 9.0 Pie topped with Funtouch OS.

Battery and Pricing

Vivo S1 comes with a non-removable Li-ion battery with 3,940 mAh capacity and 18W dual engine fast charging.
