Xiaomi, via its crowdfunding programs, has been introducing different and out of the box products over the past few years. Recently, under its crowdfunding platform Youpin, Xiaomi has introduced its fingerprint-based smart U-lock called AeroX. This product had such high demand, that the fund raised double the required amount.
The lock comes in two sizes mainly for vehicles and bicycles, but they can be used for other purposes as well.
Construction
Like Xiaomi’s other products, there was no compromise made when it comes to the quality of material used. The rods are made of stainless steel to ensure durability and strength over time.
The rod can withstand high pressure and does not break or cut. The body of the lock is IP65 water and dust resistant, so you won’t have to worry about it getting soaked in the rain and short-circuiting.
In-built Battery
It comes with a built-in battery that can last for as long as 12 months. When the battery’s percentage drops to 15 percent, the user is notified. For emergencies, it also comes with a USB-C type port that can be used as a temporary power source. The lock is also equipped with two keys for manual unlocking.
Fingerprint Sensor
This is the most talked about feature of AeroX. The fingerprint sensor mechanism used is fail-proof and high-end. It detects a fake or dummy fingerprint right away. Moreover, the unlocking is fast and it has a low failure rate. It takes 0.55 seconds to unlock.
Price and Availability
It has two variants, the short beam lock with dimensions of 224.8 x 130 x 32.2 mm comes at a price tag of $29 and the longer beam lock with dimensions 300 x 130 x 32.2 mm comes at a price tag of $32.
It will be available for purchase in May-2019.
