Xiaomi Launches a Cordless Steam Iron for $30

Xiaomi’s recent foray in home appliances hasn’t ended with just simple washing machines, smart locks, and pillows.

Just recently, Xiaomi launched a new Lofans cordless steam iron that not only comes at a pocket-friendly price but with commendable performance and functionality. There are already many wireless clothing irons available on the market, however, the affordability that Xiaomi offers sets it apart.

Cordless Design

This iron supports adjustable gear which means it can alternate between cordless and corded states and comes with a charging stand to enable cordless functionality. In case the iron is not charged, a rear lock button can be used to lock the charging mount and iron together for corded functionality.

Power and modes

It uses 2000 watts of power and has 3 different usability modes, a high-heat mode for coarse cloth, a low-heat mode for satin-like clothing and a dry mode which functions without steam. It has a 280 ml water tank which is used to produce the required steam.

Heat retention

If the iron is used in its cordless mode, it can retain heat for two minutes. Which means, after being detached from the charging dock, the iron will stay hot for two minutes and will require pre-heating after that. Around 35 seconds are needed to completely pre-heat the iron.

Construction

The aluminum die-cast ceramic glaze construction makes the iron water resistant. The maximum temperature the iron plate can reach is 200 °C while the steam penetration is 0.6g/time which makes the clothes softer and flatter. The iron plate has a negative ion powder finish which reduces the heat damage to clothes and Xiaomi claims that this iron can remove bacteria and mites from the surface of clothes.

The iron is available in China only for now, at a price of CNY 199 or $30.
