Xiaomi Redmi 7 Launched With Entry Level Specs and Affordable Price

On an event in New Delhi, Xiaomi, along with the Redmi Y3, took the covers off of Redmi 7. This budget-friendly phone brings entry-level specifications to the table and is currently available in two variants.

The phone was already launched in China and has some attractive features in terms of screen size, high capacity battery, and good value for money.

Without further ado, let’s dig into the details.

Design and Display

We don’t see any experimentation or out of the box ideas in the design here, Redmi 7 features gradient color options, a waterdrop notch display, and small bezels. It has a splash resistant coating on the polycarbonate chassis which is pretty impressive considering the price it is offered at.

The phone features a 6.26-inch display with blue light protection, TUV Rheinland certification, and HD+ (1520 x 720) resolution. It has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the back.

Internal and Storage

Under the hood, Redmi 7 features Snapdragon 632 built on a 14 nm architecture with an Adreno 506 GPU. The processor is paired with 2 GB, 3 GB or 4 GB RAM based on the variant. Redmi 7 features 3 storage variants: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.

There is a dedicated slot for a microSD card which can support external storage up to 512 GB. The smartphone runs on MIUI 10 themed Android 9.0 Pie.

Cameras

The dual sensor camera offered at a lower mid-range price is everything. Redmi 7 has a dual rear camera with 2 MP depth sensor along with a 12 MP primary sensor.

The selfie camera residing in the dewdrop notch is an 8 MP snapper. The selfie camera is equipped with AI modes including beauty mode and also supports face unlock.

Battery and Pricing

Redmi 7 comes with a sizeable 4,000 mAh battery with no fast charging.

The main variant with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB built-in memory will be available at $114 on 29^th April, while the second variant with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB built-in memory will come at a price tag of $129. The price of the third variant has not been revealed yet.
