Redmi Takes a Jab at OnePlus With Its “Flagship Killer 2.0”

Healthy competition between rivals is never bad, a little bickering only keeps everyone going as long as it does not turn into a feud. As we all know, Redmi has decided on an ‘interesting’ name for its upcoming flagship. The phone will be called K20, K for Killer.

Redmi’s focus with K20 is towards making innovation, technology, and flagship worthy specifications accessible to all. The phone’s internal name is ‘Demon King’

Background

Back in 2014, when OnePlus was an emerging enterprise, their ‘never settle’ mantra meant manufacturing flagship killers and that is how they were marketing their phones.

Since then, the specifications and prices of OnePlus phone have risen, hence, its handsets do not come under the category of ‘flagship killers’ anymore. With OnePlus leaving the throne empty, Xiaomi’s Redmi is looking to fill the void.

Manu’s Tweet

Just after the release of OnePlus, when all the hustle and bustle settled down, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi Global VP and Managing Director of Xiaomi India, took to Twitter to congratulate OnePlus on its successful launch. In the same tweet, he referred to K20 and said the flagship killer 2.0 is on its way and ‘Hold my dragon’ with a dragon emoji. It looks like he was trying to link it to the American fantasy series, Game of Thrones.

He also said,

They are choosing to “Never Settle” when it comes to pricing. At Xiaomi, we’ve believed in making innovation accessible to everyone by developing such Flagship Killers. As you will see again soon.

The flagship killer 2.0 is expected to feature Snapdragon 855 SoC and a 48 MP camera at a reasonable price.
