KP Govt Increases Retirement Age to 63 Years

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has passed the bill for increasing the retirement age for government servants to 63 years.

The decision comes following Imran Khan’s direction to the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to consider increasing the retirement age limit of civil servants and the early retirement. He suggested an increase in retirement age by at least 3 years considering the increase in average life expectancy to 69 years.

Earlier, the government employees had the liberty of retiring at the age of 45, however, this has been increased to 55 years in the latest policy.

The opposition walked out of the Assembly following the government’s refusal to amend three points from the bill. Despite opposition, the bill has been passed with a majority vote.

Other resolutions, including a daily flight route from Lahore to Peshawar, and vice versa, as well as a ban on plastic bags have also been approved. A bill for the establishment of a minority caucus could not be approved.
