Xiaomi Patents a New Slider Phone With Four Rear Cameras

A new patent filed by Xiaomi suggests that the company is looking to make a slider smartphone with four cameras at the back.

The patent shows a device with a slider mechanism similar to the Mi Mix 3, but with a quad-camera setup at the back. The front is all screen, with the LED flash and front-facing camera located on the manual sliding mechanism.

From the looks of it, it appears that the new patent could be for the Mi Mix 4, but we can’t be too sure just yet. The quad-camera module is in the middle at the back in a circular cutout. The LED flash could be placed in the center of the cameras or at the bottom of it.

There’s no fingerprint sensor to be seen anywhere on the device, which points to an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The SIM card tray is, as odd as it may sound, placed at the bottom of the phone beside a USB Type C port and a speaker grill. Good thing Xiaomi is keeping the 3.5mm audio jack on this one.

Take this information with a pinch of salt as this is only a patent and might never make it to production. In any case, a sophisticated design such as this is always nice to see.
