Former Pakistan captain, Mohammad Yousuf, has turned 45 today as cricket lovers pay tribute to the cricketer for his services to Pakistan cricket.
With over 17,000 international runs, Yousuf comes third in the list of leading run-scorers for the country. Only Younis Khan and Inzamam-ul-Haq have more international runs for Pakistan.
He is known for his classical batting style and world record for scoring most Test runs in a calendar year with 1,788 runs in 2006. In his Don Bradman-like year, he also made the record for most hundreds in a calendar year with 9 centuries in 11 matches.
The right-handed batsman made his debut in 1998 and last played for Pakistan in 2010. The reasons behind his exclusion from the team are still not very clear, and he could not complete his 10,000 ODI runs by a small margin. He ended with 7,530 runs in 90 Tests with 24 centuries whereas in ODIs, he scored 9,720 in 288 matches. He has 15 hundreds to his name in ODI cricket.
Let’s have a look at what people are saying about him on Twitter:
