New “Mera Bacha Alert” App Will Tackle Child Abuse Cases

To effectively tackle incidents like cases of child abduction and missing children in the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed relevant authorities to launch a new application called “Mera Bacha Alert”.

The application will be created in two weeks and will be connected with Pakistan Citizen Portal so that the progress in any case, including the recovery of the child, can be monitored, a press release issued by the PM Office Media Wing said.

According to the details, after the registration of a missing child on the application, the details will be provided to the provincial inspectors general of police (IGPs) and other senior officers through it.

Prime Minister Imran Khan apprised the cabinet meeting of the success in the investigation of cases of child abuse, which, he said, will help reach other culprits of such heinous acts.

He said that since the parents do not often reveal child-related incidents due to social stigma and other reasons, the government will take all possible measures to ensure the protection of innocent children and penalize those involved in such immoral crimes.

Child abuse is, unfortunately, a common occurrence in Pakistan. Reported cases of child abuse increased by 11 percent in the year 2018 compared to 2017, with more than 10 children suffering some form of abuse every day in Pakistan last year, a report released by the NGO Sahil has revealed.

  • Very good! This app is similar to what people have in Canada–Amber Alert. So, let’s use technology to curb this type of heinous crime.
