Kia Worldwide

Since 2015, Kia has recalled 618,000 vehicles due to production debris that can restrict oil flow to connecting rod bearings. This can lead to bearing in 2L and 2.4L four-cylinder engines getting worn down and catching fire.

As per the official statement by Kia, there might be damage to the high-pressure fuel pipe that causes the fuel to leak and hit the engine leading to a fire. According to agency filings, over 2,985,010 cars in the USA could be impacted by this. After the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigated this, both Hyundai and Kia reached a $750 million settlement with the authorities.

Pakistan

We reached out to Kia Pakistan for a comment and they have informed us that they are looking into the matter which will be investigated thoroughly and they will be sharing their findings once it is concluded.

While there could be any number of reasons for the fire, it is too early to assume that the cause was due to manufacturer’s fault.
